paragliding in mongolia!
My friend Christy here in Mongolia sent me a message mid-week asking if I wanted to go paragliding. So my immediate response was: "Cool! Count me in!"... it only took a few minutes for it to hit me: Wait... it is really rrrrreally cold! Paragliding?? What am I thinking!!! I had already committed though, and I could not pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity.
A small group of us went to the south west mountain area outside of Ulaanbaatar with minimum of 3 layers on, prepared to brave the -25 degree weather. It seems that paragliding is up and coming in Mongolia. There was a group of local men, some with their children, that seem like they make paragliding a weekly Sunday outing. Once we were settled, and the parachutes were ready, I was the first to go of our group and had an absolute blast!! The only directions given to me were: RUN! And so I did... you can watch the rest for yourself! |

amarsbayasgalant sunrise
I was fortunate enough to capture this gorgeous sunrise over the Amarsbayasgalant Monastery in Mongolia. This monastery is one of the few left standing after the Stalin purges of the early 1900s. The monastery is located in the middle of nowhere, which made it all the more special and so very peaceful. Me and my polish friends woke up early after a night spent sleeping in a ger to catch the sunrise from the top of a stoopa. It was an amazing moment for me in which I was able to reflect on all of the beautiful sunrises that I have been fortunate enough to see all around the world.

african safari!
Spring 2013: I was lucky enough to take a trip to Tanzania to visit a friend who had been living in Africa for over 3 years. While there, we took a trip to Mikumi National Park for a 3 day safari adventure!! It was definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It is something that I think everyone should once in their life. Seeing the animals in their natural habitat, and the beauty around them was absolutely surreal. This video is of a mama elephant and her babe at sunset. The elephants were my absolute favorite!

zanzibar seaweed farmers
After Tanzania, we headed to Zanzibar, right off the coast of Africa. We flew in a 10 person plane, and were lucky enough to fly right over a rainbow on our way there! Zanzibar was certainly an unexpected piece beauty. Although there is a great deal of poverty throughout, it still somehow had a very calm and happy aurora to it. We stayed in a little beach bungalow tucked away from the rest of the world. This video was shot early in the morning when all the women in the area go to work in the seaweed farms. It was an amazing sight and truly humbling.
